Head of Growth
Founding growth hire at a fast-growing cybersecurity SaaS company in the security awareness training and phishing simulation space. Reports to the CEO. Builds the entire demand generation function from scratch, from outbound to paid to events.
The company rebuilt the security awareness training category from the ground up. Instead of long recycled videos and multiple choice quizzes, employees get short interactive sandboxes built on spaced repetition and behavioral science. Instead of security teams building campaigns and managing lists, a fleet of agents reads each employee's role, geography, and risk level and delivers the right training and phishing simulation automatically, calibrated against the NIST Phish Scale. Alongside the awareness product sit hands-on secure coding training for developers and an in-app agent that coaches employees on real threats inside the tools they already work in. The company reached its current scale through founder-led sales. There is no demand generation function yet, and top of funnel is now the primary constraint on growth. This role builds that function. You will own the path from first touch to qualified pipeline, create the systems that make it repeatable, and hire the team that runs them.
What you will own
Roughly half of your time goes to outbound and go-to-market motion. The other half goes to the traditional growth channels. You will decide the exact ratio once you have data, but that is the shape of it. You may also end up overseeing the existing small sales team; that is a conversation about fit and appetite, not a fixed part of the job description.
Pipeline generation and outbound (half your time)
- Hyper-personalized outreach that a CISO would actually read.
- A durable outbound engine, whether that runs on people, on Clay and agentic workflows, or both.
- The SDR and BDR motion, including whether it should exist in its current form.
- Meeting volume and quality as a number you own, not a number you influence.
Growth channels (half your time)
- Paid media, SEO, and GEO, including how the company shows up in AI-generated answers.
- Events and the in-person motion: CISO dinners, meetups, partner events.
- Partner and channel programs.
- Content and positioning that makes a technical, often-overlooked category genuinely interesting.
The first six months
- A repeatable engine producing consistent qualified pipeline, with the mechanics documented well enough that someone else could run them.
- At least two growth channels proven with real numbers behind them.
- A clear, evidence-backed case for your first hire.
What we are looking for
- Experience taking a B2B SaaS company from roughly $2M to $10M in ARR or beyond, ideally more than once, with direct involvement in the work rather than oversight of it.
- A background selling into the enterprise, including familiarity with four-to-six-month sales cycles, security or technical buyers, and enterprise procurement.
- Strong writing ability. Much of this role involves making a technical and often overlooked subject genuinely interesting to a busy audience.
- Comfort building and operating your own stack, including tools such as Clay, HeyReach, and Google Analytics, without needing dedicated support.
- An analytical and resourceful approach to experimentation. You can run a test inexpensively, assess the result objectively, and move on quickly when something is not working.
- Based in New York or open to relocating. This role works closely with the CEO, particularly during the first six months.
